Radio City Music Hall
Radio City Music Hall is located in Rockefeller Center in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Designed in the Art Deco style of that era, it was the world's largest indoor theater when it opened to the public on December 27, 1932. It's Great Stage, measures 66 feet deep and 144 feet wide. It was designed to resemble a giant setting sun, and it incorporates a hydraulic elevator system.
From it's early years, up until 1979, Radio City Music Hall became the premiere showcase for the release of major studio films. The Music Hall featured a first run movie shown on the giant screen and a spectacular stage show, with four complete performances presented every day.
In 1980, the theater underwent a major renovation and is now a premiere venue for a wide variety of musical acts as well as other entertainments, and continues to host the world-famous Rockettes and annual Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Every year more than a million visitors take in the Christmas Spectacular. The show runs for eight-weeks and has been a holiday tradition since its debut in 1933.
